So What’s In The NLP Master Practitioner Syllabus?
Let’s start with you becoming a Master of Language
Free yourself from techniques and make dramatic, radical changes at the most abstract (and thus more powerful) level. · Use Submodalities linguistically – make shifts in the person’s internal representations without having to use pen and paper, instead using only words

Reframing made ridiculously easy…
As you know on NLP Practitioner you learned the art of reframing – how to get a client to take a fresh look at their assumptions just by asking a simple question. Remember that? However, you might have thought that it was very abstract and “fluffy”. What if there was a way to generate reframes quickly and easily, which meant you could get anyone to question their own model of the world? This is conversational magic.
Listen, Robert Dilts once noticed that Richard Bandler never lost an argument. He modelled that process, and he called it “Sleight of Mouth”. If you want to have someone modify their beliefs, this is a conversational way to do it. Maybe a client verbalises a limiting belief, and you don’t have time to do a submodality shift or a Time Line Therapy intervention. Or prepare a number of reframes in advance between appointments, and go in there armed for bear. Works especially well with Auditory Digital types because it ties them up in loops. And confusion leads to trance, and you know what that leads to, do you not?
You will have over twenty ways to get a person to question their own mindset. It’s not you that’s doing the dismantling, it’s them. This will certainly loosen the problem, and often blows it right out just there! Gets them to change their mind…
Values – the keys to motivation
The ultimate keys to knowing what you do and why you do it! You have an internal compass that determines to what degree you’re satisfied and fulfilled. They are the ultimate tool to understanding, and motivating, your behaviour and that of others’. Simple but profound.
Learn the Secret to being motivated all of the time! How do you know what decision to make, whether what you're doing is the right thing to do, what motivates a person and how to fully satisfy a client? If you don't uncover your core motivators, you’ll never truly understand yourself, or your colleagues and customers. When you do you will be able to elicit the best from any person you have dealings with, and understand them at a deeper level.
Does this sound useful? Learn what it is you’ve been trying to achieve all your life.
Many people have a direction/mission/life purpose – do you? Would you like to discover what it is? Ever felt like you’ve lost your direction – don’t really know what you’re doing? Values are the answer to finding it again.
You should be able to make decisions that are right for you, every time. How does that sound? Would it be useful to understand and select people who are like you?
Have you ever tried to get from A – B and you ended up at Z? What you wear, who you sleep with, how you raise your kids, what you do for a living, what you read is all determined by your values – so how do you know if you’re doing the right thing?
Ever achieved a goal and it was a complete anti-climax? Or what about loving relationships? You can’t meet another person’s needs – client, lover, boss, if you don’t know what they are… Managers need to be able to motivate their staff. The only way to have long term happiness is to live by your highest ideals.
Any internal conflict inside yourself comes from your values
Values are the road signs to feeling good. A value is an emotionally packed word like “Health” or “Freedom” or security”. They’re what we move towards or away from – our compulsions and our revulsions. Deep level emotional states you want to relish again, or avoid at all costs. What we’re willing to spend resources on (by that I mean money, energy, time). Largely unconscious = very abstract = very powerful. They drive your purpose as a human being, & they govern how you spend your time. I call them “The batteries for strategies”
Once you know what they are, you can then design engineer them to be the way you want them to be! Imagine not having to push yourself to go to the gym, or make yourself do something you don’t really want to do. Imagine if you just found yourself doing it, because it was in harmony with your new values. That can be done, in minutes! Life changing, rapid shifts that lead to all sorts of new behaviours and lifestyle choices.
Why are some people good at making decisions, while others struggle to do so easily? What if there was an easy way to make decisions for yourself that were always right for you? What if you already had this built in Compass which has steered all of your decisions in the past, & will always do so in the future? Wouldn't it make sense to use the software that came factory fitted, so to speak?
Most of your values have been programmed in at random from the environment, your parents, the media, society, & your heroes. To make it even more fascinating, your values about money will differ from your values about relationships, although some core values will show up time & again, as they are part of your identity. Do you understand how important it is that you discover your own values? And how vital it might be to uncover any hidden “away from” motivation that might be secretly sabotaging your towards efforts!
The problem is that these are unconscious - you don't know why you do such things, you just know you have to. Not only that, but some values are more blindingly important than others, & every time you make a decision what actually happens is that the hierarchy of values is filtering your choices, & ultimately your actions will be determined by them. If you find yourself regretting a decision, is it simply because you went against your internal compass. Any internal conflict inside yourself comes from your values - you may have a fantastic job, but if your life goes against your values, you will be unhappy & unfulfilled.
Alternatively, a person living on the breadline but living in accordance with their values will feel satisfied inside.
Most people are excited & surprised to see their core values on paper. However, becoming consciously aware of them you will learn to understand why you do what you do. Also once you know what they are, you can take steps to ensure that you experience these values on a daily basis, & when you do that life becomes more Technicolour as opposed to black & white.
Values are especially important in relationships because it is the satisfaction or violation of them that will sustain or crush the partnership. People give away their values all the time in their language, & once you’re trained to hear them, you will be more aware of them in everyday conversation. Chances are people are giving you strong clues about what motivates them in their everyday speech, if you’re trained to hear it.
Do you spend time with people who share your core values? Or do you find yourself in conflict with other people? Any argument with another person comes about when someone’s value is violated. Many people achieve all of their goals, have all the material things they always wanted & yet are miserable - because their values are still largely unsatisfied.
This is the ultimate in self-knowledge!
Remember: values are the fantastic compass to steer you to your ultimate destination: if you violate them you feel conflict, resistance & nagging doubt. When you live life in accordance with your values you feel rewarded & satisfied.
One thing’s for sure - this will also confirm to you consciously how many of your values being a Master Practitioner of NLP/HGE will satisfy. Seriously! You always want to elicit your client’s values, so you can satisfy them in the work you do with them. Doesn’t that seem obvious?
I’m also going to show you a fascinating model which when I first saw it, sitting where you are, it was like a bolt out of the blue. Have you ever done some work on an aspect of your life, and yet certain stuff still seems to hang around? Buzzing away like an angry bee in your brain? Like, you try and boost your relationships area, yet you still keep meeting the wrong type? Or you enhance your wealth area and yet your money situation is still crap a year later. Has that happened to you? Well part of that is to do with Astrology, and part of that is to do with your own “personal evolution” – by that I mean where you are in your personal development…
The very fact that you’re reading this is significant. Only certain people come to a letter like this. And certain people wouldn’t be seen dead in a letter like this. (Maybe that’s not the right choice of words but you know what I mean…) Have you ever wondered why that is? Ever noticed that you do some work on yourself – you raise your own standards, or make a resolution, or promise yourself that you’ll never do that thing again…. and yet it comes back to haunt you? Is it just me, or have you also experienced that?
Ever worked somewhere for a while and gradually suspected that you’ve outgrown it, or you just don’t get on with their co-workers anymore? Have you ever looked back at some of the stuff you’ve done in the past and wondered, “What the hell was I thinking?” If you’re a helping professional, who works with people’s “stuff”, wouldn’t it be useful to have an idea of what direction to move your client in? Sometimes you get a client and quite frankly, you’re not totally certain what to do with them. Here’s the answer…
It’s been said that “People’s lives are a direct reflection of the expectations of their peer group.”
What does this mean? Your peer group are the people you spend time with. You adapt to them, to keep their love and connection. You bend to fit them. You become like the people you associate with. You’ll have three choices:
1] Lead them and hopefully they’ll follow
2] Stay & let them pull you down, or keep you static
3] Leave the peer group
Tony Robbins said “if your expectations are higher than theirs, they’ll try to pull you down to theirs”. They don’t want to lose you. To grow and evolve, Tony suggests you team up with people who will stretch you. Love your family, choose your peer group.
Dr Claire Graves (who was a man by the way) was an American Sociologist in the fifties. He said that the things that are important to us move and “change, as we grow, and our notions of what we want and what we don’t want change too.” We move up a structure (like a ladder) stage by stage. There are no rules about how fast we go, or how far along it, but we are always moving… He studied societies all the way back to the birth of Christ. However, he never wrote a single book on this. Grave’s system didn’t have enough levels to explain some of the people that we meet in life, so Dr Tad James expanded upon it, bringing it up to date. Subsequently it has gained greater popularity and even had an overhaul when it became known as “Spiral Dynamics”.
Spiral Dynamics is simply a model for “mapping” how we as humans evolve and tells you where you’ve been, and where you’re going. Frustrated by the hundreds of conflicting theories about human behaviour,

That’s why this really is the most useful model I think in the entire Master Prac syllabus, and it will change the way you think about people forever. Very revealing.
Get more focussed and on target!
Have you ever felt internally conflicted, have you ever felt as if part of you wants to do one thing but part of you wants to do something else? Yeah? That can kind of internal conflict can keep you stuck, because you can be like torn between something, a devil and an angel, or a rock and a hard place. Part of you wants to do this but part of you stops you, or I really want to do this but I can’t, because this little voice in my head says such-and-such and is trying to keep me safe.
Frankly, we can show you a very, very quick way of resolving that once and for all, using a process called Parts’ Integration, which alone can be quite a life-changing experience for a lot of people. You get somebody who’s been torn between two polar opposites for many years of their life, and within 5 or 10 minutes you resolve it within them permanently. That can create a huge shift. Or maybe it’s you – you know, part of you believes what I’m saying and part of you doesn’t….?
Put an end to self sabotage – deal with the gremlin that tries to talk you out of changing. Increase your congruence so you’re going 100% towards what you want. You’ll even talk to the part of you that runs all of your other Parts! Talk about chunking up!
Reveal your Prime Concern
Imagine that when the 4 bodies of man (see Jonathan’s latest report “NLP & Beyond”) are squeezed into a person’s physical body, something gets left out. That something will be a hot button, a short word or phrase that acts like the filter of all filters. In NLP/HGE we call that your Prime Concern.
Mine used to be “it’s not fair”, and I would hear that and say it out loud with great gusto every time I didn’t get what I wanted. It also screamed at me every time I did get what I wanted too! Imagine that! In times of stress the first thing that I heard in my head or heard myself saying was “It’s not fair!” That was what I was to discover was my Prime Concern You might like to figure out what yours is. Because when you elicit it, two things happen:
1. First, you realise “On my god I always think that”
2. Second, you start to vibrate with the negative emotions that are packed into that phrase.
It’s like your ultimate raw nerve, and thus is needs to be “popped”. It’s like a constant drain on your life force energy. It’s what’s missing in your model of the world. It’s trapped energy. You’ll learn how to elicit it, and more importantly clear it! And all that trapped energy becomes available to you to use as you see fit.
Rip the weeds out at the roots, so they can never regrow
Most people’s lives are described beautifully in Finnegan’s Wake – “all moanday, tearsday, wailsday, thumpsday, frightday and shatterday” Here’s the sledgehammer technique for those stubborn negative feelings that haven’t shifted yet – the tool that Brandon Bays expanded upon and based her Journey process on. What if you’ve cleared a string of pearls horizontally, but there’s a vertical component to it?
What if the negative feelings run so deep or have been in there so long that they have roots, and all of your attempts to crack it have reduced it but not blown it out. That’s when you wheel out the incredible howitzer of the Drop Down Through.
Plus I’ll warn you now – it’s rough, but its’ stunningly transformational. It’s a case of “I’ve started so I’ll finish”, because once you elect to start this process, you can’t leave the client (or yourself for that matter) half done. It’s playing at 100% all the way with this one. And it’s worth it.
Use 31 Presentation Skills all at the same time
Obviously you already know that all learning, all behaviour and all change is unconscious, so if you train, teach, present or educate, and you want your students to change what they’re doing, or how they’re feeling, or exhibit some new behaviour, or to really soak it in, to really touch someone at a deep level, you need to talk to their unconscious minds… You’ll learn all about audiences, meeting, groups and state of the art communication.
Maybe you’ve had uncomfortable experiences in the past in front of groups, or where you thought “I know I can do better than that”. Perhaps you want to look more comfortable when presenting to groups? This training is ideal for anyone who’s ready to let go of the fear of speaking in public!
Want to know how to use your brain, language and physiology to get the results you want? Maybe you have to stand up and speak to groups right now – perhaps you’re someone who educates, trains or presents. Maybe there’s something coming up really soon where you’ll have to stand up and give a speech… This is useful even for weddings, promotions or impromptu speeches.
Fortunately I’m going to reveal a number of hush hush “trade secrets” so you can do it comfortably. To communicate effectively, according to Richard Bandler, you need to entertain your audience, and I’d agree. Specifically you need to do four things:
- KEEP THEIR ATTENTION
- BOND WITH THEM
- BE REMEMBERED
- AND MOST OF ALL…..BE YOURSELF IN FRONT OF AUDIENCE
My outcome is that you become totally comfortable, being yourself, in front of an audience of any size. Being yourself is really important. You won’t need a special “speaker personality”. You won’t have any armour on or a wall up. You don’t need a lucky stone in your bra, “Dutch courage” to get through it, or a special suit reserved for special occasions. You’re simply going to be open, honest, genuine and OK being exactly who you really are, in front of a group of other people.

That’s a good question. We also teach you how to change habits. In NLP/HGE we call them Strategies: internal processes that drive complex behaviours. How different people make decisions, get motivated and perform any task. People have “recipes” for doing things. You always put the same shoe on first. Predict, understand and match people’s behaviours
Are you familiar with Psychometric testing? Personality Profiling instruments – DISC, Myers Briggs, LSI, those kinds of tools? Imagine if there was a way to elicit the same information from someone at no cost, conversationally, in minutes, without any computers or scoring? Would that be useful?
You may have heard of The Myers Briggs study – Isobel Briggs Myers and Catherine Myers did extensive research into “how” people think. Later, Metaprograms were developed by Richard and Lesley Cameron Bandler. They are like a Computer’s Operating System, and allow you to predict, understand, match and change someone’s behaviour. Metaprograms are the keys to the way a person processes information. They're powerful internal patterns that help determine how he or she forms his internal representations and direct his or her behaviour.
For example, you have a Convincer Metaprogram, which is how you decide something is true and real, or not. If, at the end of a therapy session, or a sales interview, you “fill up” that client’s Convincer metaprogram, they will know for sure that they have changed, or they’ll be fully satisfied, or they’ll feel certain they got what they wanted. From now on you’re clients will always leave feeling fully satisfied that the problem’s been eradicated.
In a nutshell they provide the structure that governs what we pay attention to, how we make sense of our experiences, and the directions in which they take us. To communicate with a computer, you have to understand its software. To communicate effectively with a person you have to understand his or hers. Through understanding those mental patterns you can expect to get your message across, whether it's trying to get someone to buy a car or to “get” that you really love him/her. Myers Briggs says you’re born this way and they are fixed. In NLP/HGE we believe they were learned and they’re all changeable!
Imagine if you switched from Introvert (quiet, keeping yourself to yourself, small number of deep friendships) to extrovert (expressive, interacting with everyone, with friends everywhere!) That would be quite a shift!
We’ll also coach you in the language patterns that each type uses, so you’ll recognise it when you hear it, AND be able to talk to them the way they talk to themselves.
Squeeze a year’s worth of personal growth into one day
The final two training days of the course are reserved for your own work – you’ll spend one day as an NLP/HGE Master Practitioner in a therapy context, and you’ll take another student through a condensed Breakthrough session of up to eight solid hours. Be able to help anyone with anything. The only question you’ll have is “Which NLP/HGE tool should I use next?”
The next day, it’s your turn – you’re the client and you can use this opportunity to clear out all the negative emotions, limiting beliefs and ineffective strategies that you can think of. Squeeze a year’s worth of personal growth into one day.
